Ernst Honors Veteran Small Business Owners
U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Chair of the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship, led 62 bipartisan colleagues in passing a resolution recognizing November 3–7, 2025, as National Veterans Small Business Week. The resolution honors the 1.65 million veteran-owned small businesses across the country that collectively employ 3.3 million Americans and generate nearly $1 trillion in annual sales.
Ernst and her colleagues emphasized that veterans bring mission-driven focus and problem-solving skills to entrepreneurship, strengthening both local communities and the national economy. The resolution also calls for continued efforts to expand access to capital, reduce regulatory burdens, and ensure federal small business programs meet the unique needs of veterans entering the marketplace.
The bipartisan show of support underscores the growing recognition of veteran entrepreneurship as a national asset. By formally highlighting veterans’ contributions to the business sector, lawmakers aim to promote awareness, enhance collaboration, and inspire future service members to explore small business ownership as a viable path beyond military service.
