DOL Grants Awarded to Support Employment for Homeless Veterans
The U.S. Department of Labor announced over $23 million in grants awarded to organizations that assist veterans who are experiencing homelessness or are at high risk in re-entering the workforce. These grants fund employment services, training, mentorship and wrap-around supports that address barriers to re-employment for vulnerable veteran populations.
The program acknowledges that for many veterans, securing employment isn’t simply about job matching, it’s about stabilising entire life situations: housing, healthcare, mental health and supportive networks. By funding providers equipped to deliver holistic outcomes, the initiative aims to reduce employment-barriers for veteran populations traditionally underserved.
For veteran-service non-profits and workforce-partners, this signals stronger federal investment in employment pathways tied to broader social-services frameworks, and an opportunity to build partnerships where veteran employment and social support outcomes are integrated.
